Meili Snow Mountain — 7-day trip plan
A 7-day trip planner for Meili Snow Mountain — a readable day-by-day itinerary (a side project).
A 7-day family trip to Meili Snow Mountain (15–21 Nov 2026), with kids and older relatives along. The real problem was never "where should we go" but "how does nobody get altitude sickness on the way" — so the plan had to be readable while standing in the cold, not just pretty while planning at home.
How the site is organized
Three parts, matching when you actually reach for them:
- 01 Planning (before you go) — overview and route · getting there · visas and documents · money and payment · connectivity and apps · packing checklist
- 02 Field guide — the 7-day itinerary · local transport · accommodation · food · sights · altitude management
- 03 Quick reference — emergency contacts · Chinese phrases · weather and sunrise times · budget summary · warnings
Constraints, not the wish list
- Gain altitude in steps — two nights in Shangri-La (3,200 m) to acclimatize before crossing the Baima pass (4,292 m) to Feilai Temple
- No more than 4 hours of walking on any day
- Every day has a fallback: a horse ride instead of hiking up to Mingyong Glacier, or a rest day in town instead of Pudacuo National Park (3,500 m)
- Two shots at the sunrise, because whether the mountain shows itself is not up to us
What made it usable on the ground
- Collapsible day-by-day schedules — open only the day you're on, no scrolling past the whole trip
- Copy buttons for Chinese phrases and addresses, so you can hand the phone to a driver
- Tappable phone numbers · one-tap map links · a floating emergency button that follows you down the page
- A budget calculator that recomputes the per-person cost when you change group size, number of nights, or how you get around
Takeaway
A travel guide is judged where the signal is weak and everyone is tired, not at the planning desk. The parts that earned their keep were the small ones — a copy button, a number you can tap, a schedule that folds away — more than the most carefully written sections.
